Casoneta is published by Nick Biggs in Portugal, who is the data controller for anything you send through this site.

What we collect when you read a page or join the Sunday list, what we do with it, and what we never do with it. We do not sell your details, and nothing arrives in your inbox that you did not ask for.

What is collected

Contact details you submit through the owner application or newsletter form. No analytics scripts run on this site today; if that changes this page will say so first.

Why

To reply to an application, and to send the newsletter you asked for.

Who it is shared with

The systems used to store enquiries and send email. Never sold, never shared for anyone else's marketing.

How long it is kept

For as long as the conversation or subscription is live, and then removed on request.

Your choices

Unsubscribe from any email in one click. Ask for a copy of what is held, or for it to be deleted, at the contact address.

Outbound links

Links to owners' own booking pages are click-tracked so we can tell owners how much interest a feature generated. The tracking records the click, not what you do afterwards.

Embedded content

Some entries can show a property's own Instagram post. Nothing loads from Instagram (Meta) until you click; when you do, we store a flag in your browser so you are not asked again.

This notice is kept in plain language rather than boilerplate, so you can read it once and know where you stand. Anything unclear, or anything you want removed, goes to nick@casoneta.com and a person answers.
